Tha’s lush, that is – living and breathing the tech scene in Wales

Significant investment for Wales’ top tech talent

A recent KPMG Venture Pulse survey found that businesses in South Wales received investment of more than £55m in 2018. Of the 29 beneficiaries, 13 neighbour our office in TramShed Cardiff.

The entrepreneurial spirit of the city and surrounding areas is testament to the top tech talent in the area. Welsh companies boast a whole host of expert staff occupying skills in every niche of the tech sector that rival some of the areas more synonymous as ‘tech hubs’. As a result, the 44,000-strong digital workforce, has contributed a staggering £8.2 billion to the Welsh economy.

27% of Welsh investment goes to MYPINPAD

Last year, we announced the successful closing of a £15million (USD$20m) Series B investment round by Licentia Group Ltd (LICENTIA), owner of MYPINPAD (MYHSM). It has since been revealed that this was the largest single amount received in Wales last year – an impressive 27% of the total investment.

The funding allows both MYPINPAD and our sister company, MYHSM, to scale up to meet the demands of removing the complexity from global payments acceptance and consumer authentication. We are now in a strong position to attract the best sales, support and technical development talent to join our established first-class team in Cardiff, and London as well as in our Asia Pac and European entities.

Attracting Welsh media

As 2018 was such a crucial year for us, we were delighted with the amount of interest our technology attracted, particularly with the Welsh press.

We made lots of positive announcements, from our Cardiff recruitment drive reported in Business Wales and Tech dragons, to securing wider business interviews with business title, Wales Business Insider. On a national scale we were also covered in national TV and radio bulletins including BBC Wales, Capital and Magic, and Wales Online featured us as one of the 35 Welsh tech firms to watch.

Keep an eye on our blog for more announcements from Wales and further afield.
